DIY - FELT Mr. Potato Head

With extra girl attachments...

**I know, look at those luscious lips. Ha!

Or the famous mix-up face...

It's all great fun for hours.

Want to make one too?

I first cut out a potato head shape from paper.

And then I cut out two of those shapes from felt.

Next, I attached a piece of velcro to the spot where eyes, nose, mouth, ears, arms, and a hat would go.

Then I cut out a square with a flap, to make a pocket on the back of the potato. And then added velcro.

I then attached the pocket to the other potato shape.

Then I sewed the two pieces together and left the bottom open. (With felt, you don't have to sew right sides together and then turn right side out. It won't fray and kind of gives it a nice edge with the edges left out. But you can do it either way.)

And then I stuffed it full of batting.

And then I sewed the opening closed.

Next, I began making all of the body parts. And to do so, I would cut out the shape twice...

........and then sew the two pieces together around the edges, leaving a space open.

Stuff with batting and then sew closed. (Before sewing the two pieces together, attach velcro to the back side.)

And then repeat with all of your pieces.

And with some of the pieces, I hot glued them on instead of hand stitching....but you could do either. (Like the eyeballs on the eyes and the pieces on the hats...they're all glued on.)

Now, you have a whole collection.

And next time, I would make a pleated pocket that expanded more to fit everything.

But this little guy is perfect for now.

And shhhhh, oh so quiet.
