It may have been a while between drinks (excuse the pun!) but Amy Winehouse is definitely teaming up with Fred Perry to create a fashion line. We first heard rumours of a collaboration waaay back in January last year, and now some sketches from her forthcoming collection have come to light. Of course, Fred Perry is no stranger to working with musicians, the street label has also collaborated with Paul Weller and Damon Albarn.
"Amy has been wearing Fred Perry for years, so we were aware she was a genuine fan of the brand," said Richard Martin, Fred Perry's marketing director.
The 17-item collection, consisting mostly of black and white pieces, features twinsets, gingham shirts, pencil skirts; capri pants, a mini bowling dress, and Fred Perry's signature polo shirts. The range is due to hit stores in October, and will be sold over four seasons.
As for how much input Amy had in the creative process, Martin added: "We had three major design meetings where she was closely involved in product style selection and the application of fabric, color and styling details. Amy gave crucial input on proportion, color and fit. The range clearly has Amy's handwriting."
